The Planning Process

The Defining Danville Comprehensive Plan Update process is anticipated to be completed by November 2021. Over the course of the past 11 months, the project team has undertaken four key phases.

  • PHASE 1 – INFORMATION GATHERING

    January – March 2021

During phase 1, the project team met with the steering committee twice, hosted stakeholder interviews, provided 3 unique opportunities for public input. Phase 1 focused on evaluating the demographic make up of Danville, understanding the existing conditions of the built and natural environments, and identifying community issues and opportunities.

  • PHASE 2 – DRAFT PLAN DEVELOPMENT

    April – June 2021

The project team utilized the information and public input gathered during phase 1 to formulate a draft vision statement and series of goal statements. Working alongside the steering committee, supporting objectives and implementation strategies were identified. The project team met with the steering committee twice during this process. This phase concluded with 1 public engagement event and the first draft of the comprehensive plan.

  • PHASE 3 – REFINING THE PLAN

    July – September 2021

The project team worked to address any comments provided by the steering committee prior to release of the draft plan for public review and comment. After revisions were made, the project team conducted a public presentation of the plan.

  • PHASE 4 – ADOPTING THE PLAN

    Anticipated date: November 2021

Once the comprehensive plan is finalized, it will enter into the adoption process. The plan will be presented to the plan commission and town council for approval.
